Spiritual CareOverseen by Chaplain Diane Kreslins, The Lacks Cancer Center’s spiritual care team is available 24 hours a day to offer spiritual support to our patients and their families. Inpatients not only have daily access to our Chaplain and counselors, they can explore their spirituality through a variety of means including:Interfaith Prayer Room Our Lady of Mercy Chapel Outdoor Meditation Labyrinth and Healing Garden Meditation and Cancer Classes Warren Reynolds Library Interfaith Prayer Room. This quiet, prayerful environment is located off the corridor of the main hospital building, adjacent to the entrance of the The Lacks Cancer Center, and is open daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Our Lady of Mercy Chapel. Located on the second floor of The Lacks Cancer Center, the chapel is open for prayer and contemplation from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Mass is celebrated on weekdays at 12:05 p.m., and Healing Mass with the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is held the first Friday of each month at 12:05 p.m. All chapel services are broadcast on patient television channel 55 for those who are unable to attend in person. Outdoor Meditation Labyrinth and Healing Garden. Located on the 5th floor of The Lacks Cancer Center, our beautiful healing garden and soothing meditation labyrinth offer a highly therapeutic environment. Although the labyrinth is open 24-hours to patients and their family members, those who wish to be instructed on its use may schedule a guided tour by calling The Lacks Cancer Center Spiritual Care office at 616-752-5233. Meditation and Cancer Classes. Co-presented by Dr. Leonard D. Wright, MD, DABMA and Medical Director of The Wege Institute for Mind, Body and Spirit; and Diane Kreslins, Certified Chaplain, Spiritual Care Coordinator of The Lacks Cancer Center, these therapeutic classes are held regularly for patients and their caregivers. Inspirational books and CDs are available for our patients at the Warren Reynolds Library, located on the 2nd floor of The Lacks Cancer Center.
